A SUN Included in Oscars Shortlist

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Science has announced the 93rd Academy Awards shortlists in nine categories. A SUN has advanced in the International Feature Film category. This marks the first time in nine years since SEEDIQ BALE made it into the shortlist for Taiwan.

 

Taiwan was previously nominated for this category (previously named Best Foreign Language Film) three times, THE WEDDING BANQUET in 1993, EAT DRINK MAN WOMAN in 1994 and CROUCHING TIGER, HIDDEN DRAGON in 2000, all directed by Ang Lee.

 

Winners of the 14th Asian Film Awards announced

The winners of the 14th Asian Film Awards were announced online. Samantha Ko won Best Supporting Actress for A SUN, while Tomi Kuo won Best Visual Effects for DETENTION.

This is the first time that the Asian Film Awards was held in Busan, South Korea. Due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, it was decided that the results would be announced online instead of holding a physical event.

MY MISSING VALENTINE selected for the 25th Busan International Film Festival

Directed by Chen Yu-Hsun and starring Golden Horse winner Liu Kuan-Ting and Golden Bell winner Patty Lee, My Missing Valentine, has been selected for Open Cinema of the 25th Busan International Film Festival.

 

Open Cinema features a collection new and internationally acclaimed films that offer an ideal mix of the popular with the artistic screened at the hallmark outdoor theater. Director Chen participated in the same section with Zone Pro Site: The Moveable Feast in 2013.

 

The 25th Busan International Film Festival will take place from October 21 to 30.

A SUN and DETENTION receive multiple Asian Film Awards nominations

The 14th Asian Film Awards has released its nominations.
A SUN has received 7 nominations:
Best Film, Best Director, Best Actor (Chen Yi-Wen), Best Supporting Actress (Samantha Ko), Best Supporting Actor (Liu Kuan-Ting), Best Screenplay, Best Editing
DETENTION has received 2 nominations:
Best New Director, Best Visual Effects
