The 23rd Taipei Film Awards Nominations

The 23rd Taipei Film Awards has announced its nominations. Produced and financed by MandarinVision, My Missing Valentine scores seven nominations in the categories of Best Narrative Feature, Director, Actress, Screenplay, Cinematography, Visual Effects and Editing. Classmates Minus, another MandarinVision presentation, also has 7 nominations, in narrative feature, directing, supporting acting (Na Dow, Liu Kuan-Ting), screenplay, cinematography, and art design. MandarinVision also finances I Missed You, nominated for Best Screenplay, Best Actor and Best New Talent, and A Leg, nominated for Best Music.

MandarinVision handles the international film festival submission for The Silent Forest, which bags eight nominations, including Best Narrative Feature, Best Director, Best Supporting Actor, Best New Talent (Chen Yan-Fei and Troy Liu), Best Music, Best Editing and Best Sound Design.

MandarinVision handles the international sales for Golden Horse winning animation City of Lost Things, which collects four nominations, including Best Animation, Best Art Design, Best Makeup & Costume Design and Award for Outstanding Artistic Contribution.

MandarinVision has in total received 30 Taipei Film Awards nominations this year.

A SUN Included in Oscars Shortlist

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Science has announced the 93rd Academy Awards shortlists in nine categories. A SUN has advanced in the International Feature Film category. This marks the first time in nine years since SEEDIQ BALE made it into the shortlist for Taiwan.

 

Taiwan was previously nominated for this category (previously named Best Foreign Language Film) three times, THE WEDDING BANQUET in 1993, EAT DRINK MAN WOMAN in 1994 and CROUCHING TIGER, HIDDEN DRAGON in 2000, all directed by Ang Lee.
